While article submission isn’t anything shockingly new to the world of SEO, many people STILL don’t do it… and for good reason. It takes so incredibly long to do manually.

I’ll admit, I had tried article submission at one point, but after I finally found a few article directories to submit my articles to, and then after manually copying and pasting my information into the required text-boxes on each submission site, I quickly realized that my time could be better spent doing something else.

Then I came across a free program created by Brad Callen and Bryxen Software, Inc. that allows you to automatically submit your articles to hundreds of article directories with a few mouse clicks. Basically all I had to do was input my article criteria into the software, ONCE! Then, the program would automatically fill in all of the required data at each of the submission websites. Pretty incredible if you ask me.

The only part I didn’t understand was why the program is free…
but I can’t argue with that I suppose.

The software currently contains around 700 article directories, all free to submit your articles to. It is the most straightforward program that I’ve come across, in that all you need to do is:

1. Input your article details (i.e. title, article body, bio, etc.) into the software

2. Click on the directory you want to submit to

And then the program will automatically fill in your article details. Then, you simply click the submit button and your article is instantly submitted to the directory. Then, you can move to the next directory, go through the list, and by the time you’re finished you’ll have roughly 700 one way links pointing to your website.

I can’t think of an easier way to get links. Of course, if you’re going to get links this quickly, it’s important to submit different variations of your articles, to make things look more natural to the search engines.

You can do this very easily with Article Submitter when you create your project in the beginning.

The software is constantly being updated and their is an incredible community of users established that all work together to make the software better and better, so you know you’re getting great value for the money.

To check out the free software, go here:
Free Article Submitter and click the Article Submitter tab at the top.

P.S. Yes, those links redirect through an affiliate link and I get paid a small commission IF you choose to upgrade. The platinum upgrade enables submission to all directories at once with one click. Otherwise, click the “Article Submitter” tab at the above links, and even without the Platinum version, you’ll still save tons of time because you still get one-click submission for each directory, which I prefer anyway so I can tailor each submission when needed.

Even with a great title and quality content, you are losing out on article marketing traffic…unless you know how to work the bio box. It’s all about the bio (or signature area for forum marketing) that links back to your site. Like most failing marketers, you are probably putting a link to your web site, but you are probably doing it all wrong.

Don’t just put your link there and expect people to click on it. Why would they? They’ve read your article, got the information, and now they are moving on to see what else they can read to learn more. And that’s exactly where you catch them, with your bio box.

First, don’t put everything in one article, split it up. Leave them wanting more, and in the bio box, tell them where to go next. I know what some of you are saying, “Why not just put the affiliate link there, skipping everything else?” Because, one, getting them to your site and reading more builds trust, gets them to come back for more, and they’re much more likely to follow through when you do present that affiliate link, and two, putting your affiliate link out front is the quickest way to get rejected, if not banned.

So what do you write to get people to click through to your web site? Check out my articles and pay close attention to the very last paragraph. That’s where I always have a hook to get viewers to keep reading more.

Here are a few tips:

the wording should get viewers to take action, as in clicking the link to find out more

don’t link to your home page, provide link to a directly related page or post

needs to provide incentive, why should they click the link? not just to learn more, pull them in

don’t use the same bio for all articles, tailor it to get the current subject

always use a keyword phrase in the link, it is after all a great backlink.

That’s the end of this short series and you should see more traffic from your articles following these steps, but don’t think that’s all there is to say.
The titles for your content are the first thing people see when clicking a link to view it. Here are three simple steps to writing great titles that will get more people to read your articles.

Three secrets to getting your articles read by more people is all in the title. Literally, it’s all there. The titles for your content are the first thing people see when clicking a link to view it. Here are three simple steps to writing great titles that will definitely get more people to read your articles, thus generating more traffic for your web site.

First, you have to use popular search terms, or keywords, in your titles so they show up when someone searches for those keywords. There are tons of variations on keyword phrases, and choosing the wrong one could lower the number of searches that match your keywords. Proper keyword research goes far to boost views and traffic, as well as examining competition and increasing search ranks.

You must also know there are a few types of headlines that work best. Here they are as best I can explain them:

Lists/Steps/HowTo: this type is probably the easiest to get peoples attention.

Comparisons and Reviews: many people search for specifics like this

Do This: tell viewers exactly what to do

Exciting News: nothing better than being the first to find out about something

Finally, you have to use words that draw on people’s emotions, draw on how it is going to be what they are looking for. There is a lot of marketing research done in this area alone, but here are some good examples:

5 Better Ways To [INSERT KEYWORDS]

How To Easily [INSERT KEYWORDS]

Three Simple Steps to [INSERT KEYWORDS]

Top 10 [INSERT KEYWORDS]

Product A vs Product B

[INSERT KEYWORDS] Review

To get a better idea, visit some article directories and see what is getting the most views. See how the titles are worded.

Even with all these tips I’ve given you so far, unless your a natural writer and marketer, I bet your still not getting traffic. Keep going to see why your not getting tons of traffic from your article marketing (and it has nothing to do with quality content).

All the hard work you put into article marketing, video marketing, or almost any internet marketing for this matter, is wasted if you don't have one thing. What is it? What do YOU look at when your looking through search results?

All the hard work you put into article marketing, video marketing, or almost any internet marketing for this matter, is wasted if you don’t have one thing. What is it?

You HAVE to have an absolutely amazing title!

Think about it. What do you look at when your looking through search results? What is it that get’s you to click on that YouTube video you thought was going to be cool but turned out to be just plain stupid? It was the title! Sometimes the description and other data weighs in, but the title leads.

Most people think along the lines that great content is going to drive tons of traffic. Sorry, but you are all wrong. You have to remember, people do not see the content first, they see the title. Your article marketing won’t generate tons of traffic unless your title grabs their attention and gets them to click through to view the actual content of the article.

This applies for any marketing methods, not just article marketing, but video marketing, forum signatures, blog posts, PPC campaigns, and just about everything else. You won’t get ANYWHERE if you don’t have great title’s. Your going to get overlooked and all your hard work is going straight down the drain and into the archives.

So my first rule of internet marketing is to use a killer title in whatever form of marketing your using. Without a title that absolutely grabs the viewers attention and makes them say “I HAVE TO READ/WATCH THIS”, most people will see another article or video next to yours, read the title, and click it because it APPEARS to be better.

Now before I get a bunch of comments saying it’s all about the content too, yes, the content behind the title matters even more. You have to back the title up with absolutely amazing content. Otherwise, viewers will make a subconscious note, and the next time they see your name next to the title, they’ll immediately think “oh, him/her again, even though the title got my attention, I know it’s probably crap”. So yes, amazing “quality” content has to follow your title, and you have to do this every time. Every thing has to be really good content that will get people to remember you and will come back when they see titles that aren’t so catching (as not everything will be perfect, it takes trial and error).

So that’s the Why, on the next page you’ll see How To Get Your Articles Viewed By More People by writing absolutely amazing titles.

Free Article Marketing Tactics Series in the Totally Free Article Marketing section. I am practicing the methods in these articles to promote the articles themselves in the same way.

So I know I haven’t been as active as I first intended, but I hope to change all that. To start, I’m going to focus on specific section of this site in order to build each section up to a level I’m happy with, starting with a few marketing tactics to get more visitors coming, followed by an extensive series on how I use all the WordPress plugins for optimal pages, placement, marketing, and monetization.

So the first set of marketing tactics are going to revolve around article marketing. However, as several sections will overlap as, several of the tips can and should be used in other areas too, and I will restate, interlink, and expand on them when I get to the other tools and marketing techniques I use.

This Article Marketing Series will be a cornerstone for this site, and among the first marketing methods implemented. They will make up the Totally Free Article Marketing section and soon that page will be set up as a gateway to them. I will practice the methods in these articles, to promote the articles themselves in the same way. These methods (and a few others) should increase the flow of traffic to this site, and with any luck, I can start seeing some revenue generated from AdSense clicks and a couple of affiliate products I recommend.

Following the series, your going to learn the “other” methods I’m currently using to promote these articles and more. So look out for more free tools and how I’m using them in the near future on TotallyFreeWebSiteTools.com!

A long time ago (only 5-10 years really), exchanging links with a bunch of other web sites was a great way to build up your reputation and get bumped to the top of the search engines. But with the rise of Google and the evolution of the internet, it now takes much more to get results. But is link exchange really dead, as many internet marketers claim?

I know this has been discussed in man places across the web, but in my own opinion, I think link exchange still has value, just not as much as it used too. Now, you have to try many different marketing methods, each of which also only has a little value, but combined can bring traffic and raise rankings. So while exchanging links may have very little impact on your traffic and search engine rank, a little here and a little there still adds up.

So, if link exchange isn’t dead, how do you go about exchanging links? Personally, I use WordPress for all my web sites, and I install a great plugin called WP Link Directory, from http://www.seanbluestone.com/wp-link-directory, to manage my link exchanges. Following is a rough outline of how I go about setting up this free plugin.

How about you? Do you believe traditional link exchanges are dead or alive?

LINK EXCHANGE SETUP

WP Link Directory – settings located at bottom of admin navigation

require reciprocal link from "everyone"

you will probably want all requests to reciprocate

some of your requests will not be recipricated (non-profit sites)

in the end, you can still decide on each individual exchange

you should probably optimize the reciprical link HTML

optimize title with keywords

provide longer description, place some keywords in description

order links by "newest first"

yes already default, but some say change it, i say it simulates changing content

detailed info text is a matter of preference

display page rank – no, i prefer not to, most users don’t know or care

use nofollow, leave default no, defeats the purpose of reciprocating

categories per row – I prefer 1 row, not 2, view page to see differences

show counts – shows number of links next to categories, your preference

require approval for all links, there is spam and scams here like everywhere else on the internet

extra fields required, if you want to be able to communicate with them

captcha – definitly, but secureimage vs captchas.net, dunno that one

Is there a free and easy way to do it? Here is what I found, the best resources on where to submit articles.

When it comes to article marketing, the questions I see the most revolves around submitting articles, or more precisely, how and where to submit articles. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of web sites that allow you to submit articles for publishing on their site, but should you submit your articles too all of them? While many agree that you should spread your articles as far as you can, many also agree that relevancy is key in internet marketing. Why submit an article about dogs to an articles site about weight loss? The viewers there aren’t going to be interested in your article, they are looking for stuff about dogs. Sure, you get another link back to your site, but then again, now search engines see a site about dogs linking back to your site, but it is not relevant and could look bad. At least that is my reasoning – let me know what you think. But while niche article sites are great to submit your articles to, there are many article sites that accept articles on any topic. In my research, I’ve found there are several top sites (all free) that will benefit you the most.

In my search for places to submit my articles, I came across several lists in forums and other websites. They will all be listed near the end for reference. Some were Top5/Top10 lists while other listed anywhere from 15 sites to 200 sites or more. Some listings were old, and some of the best aren’t around anymore (is ArticlesOn.com really hacked?). So I wanted to make an updated list, with a separate list for most popular places to submit articles, as well as a long list of article niche sites. Some sites now charge for their service, and they will be in a separate list, so all the other sites listed are either free or have a free service plan.

How to Easily Submit Articles to Multiple Sites

Submitting an article to five or ten sites may not seem so hard to do, but if your submitting articles to 20 or more article sites, the time it takes to submit to each site starts to build up. To speed up the process, I also searched for some sort of auto-submitter to submit my articles faster. I found several that were free and several more that were paid services. If you really want to submit to hundreds of article sites, I suggest a paid service. Nobody has made a program that will automatically submit to all those sites at once. However, I did find one program by well known Internet Marketer Brad Callen, simply called Article Submitter. You can download it for free by clicking Article Submitter at the top of the Article Submitter sales page. Yes, that goes to a affiliate link and I make money if you choose the Platinum version, otherwise, click the link at the top for the free version. I also found another program by the name of Article Submitter (yes, same name, I will update this with a link later) which does auto-submit articles (and register you) for several hundred sites, but it did not have any way to remove article directories that were not relevant, such as placing an internet marketing site on an article directory about guitars. Brad Callen’s free Article Submitter allows you to selectively register and submit articles to selected directories. It also keeps track of login information and article information, and then provides an automatic auto-fill feature – all you have to do it review and submit to each site! It is missing a few great article directories though, but it also dual purposes as a great way to organize your articles. You can easily copy and paste article details from this program into those directories that aren’t built in to it. It also could serve as a built-in list of directories to easily submit to. Again, there is also a Platinum version for sale, which has over 600 article directories and does auto-submit your articles, saving a lot of time if your submitting to a couple hundred directories. This blog is all about free tools, but if your interested, be sure to check it out.

Best Places to Submit Articles

I’ve seen everywhere people recommending these sites as the best. They have get the most traffic and are considered by all to be the top places to submit your articles. Even though some of them are heavily regulated, the rules have helped raise the quality of articles, and therefore the popularity of the sites. Write high quality, unique articles, submit them to these sites, and your just about guaranteed high quality targeted traffic. Google PageRank (PR) and Alexa Rankings change regularly, listed information was accurate at the time of writing this post.

EzineArticles – Alexa 197, PR6

ArticleCity – Alexa 17015, PR5

A Few More Places to Submit Articles

Have time to spread your articles a little further? Here are several more sites which were recommended at least once during my search.

WebProNews

RL Rouse

Free Content – Certificate.net

BPubs

SelfGrowth

ArticlesOn

AssociatedContent – make money, post here first

Article Announce – YahooGroups

Pay Sites to Spread Your Articles

I’m not going into a bunch of detail here, as this site is mostly about free stuff. But if you have the money and not the time, paying may be a great option for you. There are many services out there, I for sure do not know of them all, and I’m not looking for them. But, of course, I did find some in my search for free sites, so I figured it doesn’t hurt to list them too. Here are a few pay sites that were recommended at least once. Again, I wasn’t looking for these, so the list is short and all that I could remember. Let me know if there are some great ones to add to the list!

PR Leap

PR Web

iSnare – used to be free, still free with referral credits

Resources

Take my word for it, or not. Here are the sites where I found all of the above listed.

http://www.freenewsletterideas.com/index.htm#directories

http://www.most-relevant-links.com/articles/

But there are more! There are hundreds of more places to submit articles. Add to that hundreds of article distributors and hundreds of group boards like Yahoo Groups and Google Groups, you could be spreading for ever!

And then there are the Social Networking sites like Digg.com. But that will span into another post another day. Let me know your thoughts on this list, I will try to keep it updated and will add your submissions and more information as I come by it!

One of the easiest ways to start making money online is to start a blog. Yes it is much more involved than just creating a blog. There are lots of little tips and tricks that can turn your blog into a money making machine. But before you can write a blog you need somewhere to write it.

One of the best ways to start is to create your own using a self-hosted Content Management System (CMS) such as WordPress from WordPress.org. There are others, and you can even use a hosted blog on sites such as WordPress.com and Blogger.com. There are many to chose from, each with it’s own great features. Hosted service are easier to run and customize, but sometimes the amount of customization is limited and you can usually do only so much. Blog software can range from the simple Blogger blogs with easy to use interface that lets you customize some colors and a few other things. But while hosted blogs are quite powerful by themselves, they’re nothing compared to what can be done with a full CMS like WordPress. Many of the tools and tactics we will cover are based on using WordPress, however some may be implemented separately.

We use WordPress for our blog, because it gives us complete control of everything, plus all the plugins and themes add great features, functionality, and more! For those of you who have never worked with web sites and creating pages, your in for a treat. WordPress can be compared to a program that does most of the work for you. Much of the work involved in creating a website has already been done for you – you just have to provide the content (and a few plugins help too). There’s so many doors that a blog can open, and WordPress makes it easy to open them and much more. However, we actually recommend (and here’s another tip) using all of the above! That’s right, get an account with every site we listed above. If you do some searching, you’ll find we have several blogs ourselves. And the ones I listed are only the beginning.

Also, if you don’t feel quite up to the task of following these easy instructions, many people have made money just by using a Blogger site. You still do quite a bit and it is extremely easy to setup. We however are going for the whole works and will focus on blogging with a WordPress installation.

Regardless, those sites are among the top blog sites, with 1000’s of bloggers and millions of readers. When properly set up, they will all generate more traffic for you, which generally means you make more money. Again, that’s only touching the top sites and what we call the start of Social Networking. There is much more to learn and there are many other tips and tricks that will turn all of your blogs into traffic generating machines! And we’ll give you all that and more in future posts. I’m even going to show you some free tools that will autofill those other blog sites with your posts from WordPress! But until then, install WordPress, make a post and play with the features. Become familiar with the interface and we will setup and tweak your WordPress installation in the next post(s).

P.S. If your don’t want to set this up yourself, but are willing to pay someone to do it, I’d be happy to setup and customize a Wordpress installation for you.
